The V.I.P.(Volunteers In Policing) program was initiated by and for the Glen Carbon Police Department in 2009. The purpose of the program is to provide opportunities for citizens in the community to participate in the daily operations of the police department. Volunteers receive special recognition and a sense of self fulfillment and achievement from providing a community service. V.I.P.s perform a variety of duties including by not limited to; reviewing policy manuals for accreditation, receptionist duties at the information desk and assisting at events hosted by the Police Department such as the Rabies Clinic, the Twilight Torch Ride for Special Olympics and the Annual Chili Cook Off competition. The Glen Carbon Police Department is hoping to expand the program as we develop and/or coordinate other community projects, programs and events. Anyone who would like to volunteer may contact the Police Department at 288-7226 and ask for the Community Laison Officer.
