Public Utilities
The Village provides water, sewer and solid waste services for all residents residing in Glen Carbon. New residents must sign up for services through the Village Clerk's office. Residents will need to fill out an application and pay a $100 deposit, plus a $25 processing fee, for new service.
Water, sewer and solid waste services are billed on a monthly basis through the Village Clerk's office.
Water and Sewer Rates
It is the policy of the village that the public water supply distribution system and the wastewater collection and treatment system shall be operated and maintained as a combined water supply and wastewater system.

Solid Waste Services
Trash Collection and Recycling Services are billed monthly to Glen Carbon citizens on their Water Utility Bill. The services are provided by Allied Waste Service, and are coordinated through the
Public Works Department.
Rates are as follows:
- $12.43 until September 30, 2010
- $12.80 until September 30, 2011

Utility Payment Options
The Village of Glen Carbon has several options when making your
water/sewer/trash payments.
Payments are accepted Monday-Friday (except holidays) from 8:00 a.m. –
4:30 p.m. at the Village Clerk’s Office, 151 N. Main Street. There is a
night-drop in the parking lot in front of Village Hall for payments
made after hours and on weekends.
The Village can direct debit your account on the due date (or the first
business day following if your due date falls on a weekend or holiday)
through an ACH payment. This service is free to all residents. This
worry-free payment option eliminates late fees.
The Village also accepts credit cards (Visa and MasterCard only) online
or by calling 618-288-1200. Please note that there is a convenience fee
of $4.00 per transaction. This fee covers the cost charged by Visa and
MasterCard to process the credit card payment, as under Illinois
Statutes the Village is not allowed to accept a reduced net amount for
payment from those that choose to use credit card payments versus cash
or check.
