Meeting Notice The Village of Glen Carbon will hold an informational meeting for the purpose of discussing the improvement of Glen Crossing Road Phase 2 from east of Waterford Lane to the Albert Cassens Elementary School. The meeting will be held at the Glen Carbon Senior Citizen Center directly behind the Village Hall located at 155 North Main Street, Glen Carbon, Illinois on Saturday, April 11, 2009 between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 12:00 P.M. Representatives from the consulting engineering firm for the Village of Glen Carbon will be present to explain the project and answer questions. All interested individuals and agencies are welcome. The proposed improvement consists of reconstructing the existing roadway. The typical section will accommodate two 13-foot travel lanes with concrete curb and gutter. In addition, the proposed improvement will also include the following work: 1. Portland
cement concrete sidewalk four feet wide will be provided on the south
side of the roadway.

Crossing Road Phase 2 The Village of Glen Carbon, Illinois Department of Transportation and Madison County have announced that the Glen Crossing Road Phase 2 Reconstruction project will begin on Wednesday, April 29, 2009. This project will provide the total reconstruction of Glen Crossing Road from just east of Waterford Lane to the Cassens Elementary School in Glen Carbon. The construction will consist of 30 feet of concrete pavement, curb and gutter, storm sewers and sidewalks. The project will be completed in 5 stages in order to accommodate residents affected by the construction. Stage 1 construction will begin just east of the Albert Cassens Elementary School property with storm sewer installation, roadway reconstruction and sidewalk construction. A similar operation will then move westerly throughout the remaining stages. Glen Crossing will be closed to thru traffic during each stage of construction. Only residents affected by the construction, emergency vehicles and service delivery traffic will be permitted through the closures. Vehicular parking along Glen Crossing Road will be prohibited throughout the project limits. All work is expected to be completed by November 30, 2009. Advanced traffic control devices shall be installed and maintained throughout the construction period. Thiems Construction Company, Inc. is the General Contractor on this project. Juneau Associates, Inc. will serve as the project engineer.

Project Update As of Wednesday, April 29th, work in stage 1 has started. Please be advised that ALL traffic to and from the Cassens Elementary School is asked to enter and exit from State Route 159 until the end of the School year which is Wednesday, June 3rd. All vehicular traffic is asked to please utilize caution as the far parking lot entrance to the school site is currently in the work zone and under reconstruction. Beginning Thursday, June 4th, ALL traffic to and from the Cassens Elementary School is asked to enter and exit from Old Troy Road until the completion of the construction which is November 30, 2009. At this time, Thiems Construction Company is ahead of schedule and making excellent progress. Work in Stage 2 will consist of completing the Cassens Elementary School parking lot entrance and begin storm sewer installation. The current flow of traffic and roadway closures will not change at this time. School buses are encouraged to utilize the circular drop off area near the School until June 3rd. Service delivery vehicles and smaller buses will be provided access into the School parking lot. Traffic along Stage 2 of Glen Crossing Road may be reduced to one lane at times. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution while entering and exiting the work zone. Vehicular parking along Glen Crossing Road will be prohibited throughout the project limits. Roadway Excavation in Stage 2
The Village of Glen Carbon, Illinois has announced that Thiems Construction Company will begin work roadway excavation work in Stage 2 of the Glen Crossing Road Phase 2 Reconstruction project on Thursday, June 4, 2009.
Accordingly, Glen Crossing Road will be closed to all traffic throughout the stage 2 construction limits.
The current flow of traffic to and from the Cassens Elementary School will be permitted from Old Troy Road only.
Vehicular parking along Glen Crossing Road will be prohibited throughout the project limits.
Advanced traffic control devices shall be installed and maintained throughout the construction period.
The Village appreciates the cooperation of all Village residents during this construction.
