The Public Works Department’s mission is to provide
responsive public services to our customers to promote the health, safety and
welfare of our community, and to provide a supportive, respectful working
environment that encourages personal and professional growth.
The Department is organized into four divisions, staffed by
approximately 20 full time employees.
Administration – responsible for the day to day operations of the department, GIS data collection and asset management, and subdivision review and inspection.
Streets – responsible to the maintenance of roadways, sidewalks, street signs, and rights-of-ways
Utilities – provides safe and reliable drinking water to the community and collects and safely removes sanitary sewer
Parks – maintains all of the parks and open spaces for the residents of Glen Carbon to enjoy

Village residents may drop off Yard Waste items at Public Works which include grass clippings, leaves, sticks and twigs.
Saturday, November 7, 2020 - 8 am to 3 pm at the Public Works Garage
Saturday, December 5, 2020 - 8 am to 3 pm at the Public Works Garage
LARGE ITEM PICK UP
The large item pick up will be completed on each resident's normal trash collection day.
There will be no fall clean up this year. Instead, residents will be able to contact Republic Services to schedule an additional bulk clean up at no charge any time during the year. When you are ready to schedule your personal bulk clean up, please call Republic Services at (618) 656-6883.
